HELP PROTECT AND PRESERVE CLEEVE COMMON

To all kite flyers: In order to form a stronger bonds between local fliers, other users of the common, and to protect this site of outstanding natural beauty,
please consider joining the “CLEEVE FLYERS”

Cleeve Common is identified as a place of outstanding natural beauty, and it is critical that it is maintained for future generations to enjoy. Kite flying can cause damage to this fragile environment (especially during damp conditions), and it is our job to help protect it.
Horse Riders, Walkers, and other users of the common have a right to enjoy these spaces as much as the flyers, so please be considerate when using the common, and adhere to the following guidelines:
  • All 4 line traction kite flyers must were a helmet and have insurance.
  • All 2 line static flyers can fly without helmets.
  • Do not park in front of the Common gates - it can restrict access for others.
  • Do not fly kites within 100 meters of the aerial pylons - It can be intimidating to walkers, horse riders and other visitors using the access gates.
  • Respect other users of the Common. A large number of people use it for a wide variety of leisure activities. Fly with courtesy and consideration for other visitors.
  • Buggy and Board kite flyers: Ensure you have indemnity insurance. Wardens are at liberty to ask for proof, and to stop you flying if it cannot be presented.
  • Do not fly up-wind of anyone on the common without ensuring a large gap for safety,
  • Keep clear of all livestock.
  • If the ground is wet, and the grass is being damaged, please stop all boarding and buggying, else the common will be closed to flyers until the grass recovers.
  • When kites are not being flown, they should be laid out in a line where they will not cause obstructions to other visitors.
  • If horse riders are using the gallops, please land your kite until they have passed.
  • Please leave the common as you found it - taking any litter with you.
